I hiked up the Cougar Creek ravine before the flood of 2013. From a quaint trickle shown here, water levels rose up well above the boulders, washed away many of the trees and caused astronomical damage to the homes and infrastructure down stream. Nature is beautiful, sometimes terrifying, but always indifferent to such things.
